Common delay causes: Incomplete or incorrect service addresses, evasive defendants, gated/doorman buildings, and missing pages are the top reasons service stalls.
Difficult or Evasive Service
Some defendants are hard to locate or actively avoid service. When that happens, our servers make multiple GPS-verified attempts at different times of day and, where the law allows, complete substituted or nail-and-mail service under CPLR 308.
Multiple attempts, then substituted service
If the defendant can't be served in person after diligent attempts, we proceed with leave-and-mail or affix-and-mail service and document every step in the affidavit. Add skip-trace if you need help locating the defendant first.
Affidavit Delivery & Filing
Affidavit turnaround is separate from service turnaround. Factor both into your filing deadline.
Notarized Affidavit of Service
Once service is complete, we prepare and notarize the affidavit of service, deliver it to you as a court-ready PDF, and (on request) file it with the court.
If the affidavit needs to be filed with the court, we e-file it on request and confirm the filing details to avoid rejected filings and delays.

How to Avoid Delays
- Provide a complete, current physical service address (not just a PO box)
- Include a place of employment or alternate address if you have one
- Add skip-trace up front if you're unsure of the defendant's whereabouts
- Upload the complete, correctly captioned papers with all exhibits
