Serving a corporation (CPLR 311)
A corporation is served by delivering the papers to an officer, director, managing or general agent, or any other agent authorized to receive service.
Service on the Secretary of State (BCL 306)
Many New York entities may be served through the Department of State, which then forwards the papers to the entity's registered address. ServeNYC handles this routing and documents it in the affidavit.
